Subject: The WeddingDearest friend,
You are humbly invited to join a few family and friends in witnessing my marriage to Jennifer Eno, my sweetheart of four years.
It is a simple affair to validate our love in the eyes of the state before the birth of our child in late January. A more formal affair is scheduled for April 4, 1998, when Jennifer's parents can join us from Florida, and of course you are invited to join us then as well.
It will take place Monday, November 17 at the state courthouse at 1111 Alakea Street downtown. Judge Leslie Hayashi will meet our party at 4:30 in the outside courtyard, then lead us into the building and into her chambers for the ceremony.
I understand if you cannot make it (I will be more hard-nosed about the April date); but I just wanted you to know you're welcome to join us if you can. It's at best a semi-formal affair. No coats and ties, certainly.
Nothing is expected of you except your gracious company.
Now for the basic logistics.
I suggest you add a good twenty minutes to your travel time to allow for the nightmare that is downtown traffic at 4:30 p.m. (how clever of us to pick rush hour!).
Parking for the courthouse itself is often difficult to find. The two locations I'd suggest are the Ali`i Place parking lot across the street from the courthouse, and the parking lot next to the Yong Sing Chinese restaurant, between King and Hotel streets on the right side as you come up Alakea (which is one-way mauka).
As we hope to be punctual in meeting Judge Hayashi at 4:30 p.m., it would be nice if we could all be there soon after 4 p.m. to recover from the chaos of travel and to catch up.
Note that nothing is planned for after the ceremony. Jennifer and I will likely spend a quiet evening on the beach. A more riotous gathering of friends and KL survivors _is_ planned, however, for the evening of December 27. Stay tuned for details.
If you have any questions, please call me at 924-1822 or 255-6660. Write those numbers down in your address books while you're at it.
We should keep in better touch from now on...
With love,
Ryan
