Jen's place of employment from October 1997 through September 1998. Previously she worked for over a year at the Ke`eaumoku Street location near Ala Moana (and was lucky to get out alive).
She worked at Tower Kahala for the entire time she was pregnant with Katie, and got promoted to assistant video sales manager -- i.e. more duties for the same pay -- just before our daughter was born.
She stopped working for two months as we adjusted to parenthood, but when she tried to go back in March, they tried to tell her she couldn't have her job back.
I promptly put on my angry-legal-letter-writing hat, blasting the local management as well as Tower's corporate office, and thoroughly educated them on the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993. It didn't take long for them to mumble and apology and take her back.
Two weeks later, thanks to more FMLA fine print, Jen left again to take another several weeks of leave.
In July, she went back for good. (Or so we thought.) Thus began several months of breast pumps, bottle feedings, late night commutes, and basic insanity as I tried my hand as a primary caretaker.
Eventually, I ended up snagging a full-time job (previously I was just working as student help at UH), and Jen quit her job to be a full-time mom.
