In the fall of 1999, Sharon joined PBEC (where I worked from October 1998 to February 2003). She was hired as the head of programs, succeeding two others who had left the position within a span of a few months. She came aboard less than seven months before our major conference in March 2000, nonetheless doing a remarkable job of hitting the ground running, taking the helm and steering us to success. In February 2001, however, she was deservedly lured away to a better job at a partner organization's office in Hong Kong, and later to an even better position at the American Chamber of Commerce there. Fortunately, we still keep in touch.

Sharon's birthday is February 18. Before coming to Hawai`i, she lived and worked in Taipei.
