Science Adventure Center
The brand new Science Adventure Center at Bishop Museum. This facility is incredible. Wander under and around a giant volcano that you can make erupt, pilot a submarine and experiment with wave action, examine bugs and dress up as endangered species... it's bound to be a regular stop for our kids. Music is "Son of Ambriel" from Vibrant by Cargo Cult (Magnatune). You can directly download the above Quicktime movie (.MOV) file or a larger version (320x240/112MB) here, courtesy the Internet Archive. For the iPod-optimized file (MP4/7MB) served up in the feed, click here.Tags: hawaii, vlog, videoblog, videopodcast, bishopmuseum, museum, science, volcano, kids http://www.lightfantastic.org/imr/extras/videoblog/content/scienceadventure.mov

Day After Christmas
Madness. A pile of gift cards overwhelmed our common sense and led us to Ala Moana Center the day after Christmas... the second biggest shopping day of the year. We got in and out before it got really crazy. Music is "Strange Sensations" from Unreachable Destiny by DJ Markitos (Magnatune). You can directly download the above Quicktime movie (.MOV) file or a larger version (320x240/72MB) here, courtesy the Internet Archive. Candy Cane Lane
Bishop Museum presents an annual family festival for Christmas called "Candy Cane Lane," with food, music, games, crafts, rides, and other goodies. Our kids turned out to be only interested in the rides. You can directly download the above Quicktime movie (.MOV) file or a larger version (320x240/58MB) here, courtesy the Internet Archive. Going Nuts
The self-guided factory tour at the Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut plantation on the Big Island of Hawaii. Though packed with machines, I was surprised how much work is still done by hand. Music is "Sol Naciente" from Vibrant by Cargo Cult (Magnatune). You can directly download the above Quicktime movie (.MOV) file or a larger version (320x240/56MB) here, courtesy the Internet Archive.
