Picking Up Katie

Jen is battling pneumonia, so I had to manage the family zoo today. This is my first "conventional" videoblog entry, documenting the short trip to Mililani Waena Elementary to pick up my daughter Katie from school. Music is "Garden" from Alchemy by Cargo Cult (Magnatune/CC:BY-NC-SA). You can download a larger version (320x240/89MB) courtesy the Internet Archive+

I need to know... what kind of camera are you using to capture this great footage? I'd love to do a videolog myself, but don't know where to get started. Does that mean in addition to toting around my digicam everywhere, I'm going to have to start carrying around my video cam, too? btw, what do you use to edit your footage? Do you have a "how-to videolog" faq floating around somewhere? :)

Donna, it would be awesomer than awesome if you vlogged! And the good news is, you don't need to carry yet another gadget, and you can edit with relatively cheap software. I just use the 'video' mode on my digital still camera, and QuickTime Pro ($40) for cut-and-paste quickie edits. As for how-tos? Try Freevlog, or Videoblogging.info. I'd really like to invite you to join the new Hawaii vloggers mailing list, which I just started. We can talk shop and help each other figure all this out!

Ryan, Great video of picking up your keiki--I can relate! ;-) However, she does need a booster seat for her safety... It is "da lew". ;-P Aloha, Jay
