Lunch

Lunch with Vince at Phó Tô-Châu on River Street. Because of the perennial long line, I'd never been there before. And we didn't even wait long (though a Japanese tour group lined up outside soon afterward). Top notch broth, big pieces of tendon, thick slices of raw steak... I see the appeal!

Friday

Last day at my job downtown. Small company, great people (they're both
figuratively and literally my family), but I'm off to something new. I got
a cake and a million well wishes.

been since I was hired in 2003.

much left at Girl Scout Hale. We got the last case of Samoas (Jen's

Wow, Lau Lau!

Local comedian Frank Delima attends our church in Manoa. His license plate
highlights one of his most well known characters, "Lucille," inspired by
the Kenny Loggins song. "Wat, Luclille, you goin' leave me now? I know my
car stay smokin' and the radio stay broken... but wow, laulau!"

actually stopped me to chat, remembering me from an AIIM event last year.
She got my e-mail address to add to a group planning some sort of

Lunch

Returned to Zen Sushi (a "Korean sushi" restaurant) at the Remington
College Building (1111 Bishop Street) for lunch. Teriyaki donburi (teri
beef and mushrooms, egg on rice, topped with kamaboko and furikake) and
miso soup for $5. This week is the official grand opening, which meant a
free gift: a piggybank to commemorate the Year or the Golden Pig...
apparently a special year in the Chinese zodiac that comes around every 600
years. Included a $1 rebate in quarters. So, a Korean guy taking on a
Japanese cuisine, celebrating a Chinese tradition. I love Hawaii!

Hallelujah

Ever since we moved to Mililani, Katie has mourned the statistically
unlikely dearth of other girls in our neighborhood. On our block in
kid-rich Mililani, Katie has long been the only female out of over a dozen
children... until now. Shalei, age four, just moved to Mililani from
Kalihi. Katie has already unilaterally declared the two of them best
friends.
