The Mandalay

Lunch at The Mandalay, a fancy new Mandarin Chinese restaurant in downtown
Honolulu (in the old Yong Sing location on Alakea), run by the folks behind
Eastern Garden. There's a Mandalay Express take-out counter, too. Inside,
dim sum is offered but we ordered off the menu: clams with black bean
sauce, peppersalt shrimp, and dried scallop fried rice with egg whites.
Very tasty, but a little pricey. A nice "upscale" addition to the many
Chinese offerings downtown.

Recertify

I guess there are worse ways to spend a day at work than on the floor in a
conference room getting intimate with a CPR dummy and playing with gauze.

Haircut

Katie sees Auntie Nicky. Much to her mom's bittersweet relief, Katie's
losing a good six inches of her long hair with this visit.

Ala Moana

After relentlessly building up (above the Mall Level, Ho'okipa Terrace),
Ala Moana Center is again building out. Nordstrom, and a whole new wing of
stores (and parking), is coming.
