to make space for half a dozen other small stores.

Mililani
After a stop at the family temple in Waipahu, we visited my paternal
grandparents' gravesite in Mililani Cemetary. Thakfully, a morning rain
cleared some of the smoke.

Long Night
New Year's in Hawaii means firecracker smoke so thick, the air is worse
than L.A. on a bad day. Our sons have asthma, so even locked inside with
all windows closed and filters running, both have been wheezing and
coughing all night. Hating your fellow island residents is a lousy way to
start the new year.
