Dance

For folks who claim to have no social life, we can still keep ourselves pretty busy when we try.

I never got around to writing out all the wacky details of this weekend, only the first weekend in August, but the photos tell the best parts of the story, anyway.

The bon dance finally gets underway. Dancers come from all over the island. Todd and I (and Katie) get in the spirit. Katie does her impression of The Karate Kid.

They only do one song live, but it's a blast. The drums and flutes somehow lull Zac to sleep.

Katie makes her way through a giant snake. Halfway through the snake, a viewing portal. On the KCCN stage, some traditional Okinawan dancers. It might just be the eye make up, but she looked mad.

Is it my imagination, or are you shrinking somewhat, Mr. O?
Dreama (September 1, 2002 10:50 PM)

He's kinda standing funny in that shot with his brother, which might make him look short. But then again, I thought he was taller than me and I discovered this week that now we're the same height. Go fig. :)

No, Dreama, you're not imagining things - my younger brother is, in fact, very nearly six feet tall. Not common for a fellow of primarily Japanese ancestry. So, as you can see, I got the short end of the stick gene wise on many levels!

For the record, somewhat after the fact, I meant shrinking in girth. :-)
