It didn't take long for a crowd of dancers to surround the tower, young and old (mostly old), many groups participating from other temples on the island. Although there are new "contemporary" dance songs mixed in every year, this crowd really goes for the classics, and although I don't know much Japanese, I suspect I've memorized many of them.
